Reconstructing Reconciliation Day

nelsonOn 16 December Dr Roodt and a team of dedicated Groote Schuur staff made Reconciliation day a special day of reconstruction: offering life-saving surgery to 8 women needing mastectomies and reconstructive breast surgery for breast cancer, opening two theatres thanks to Project Flamingo funds that would have otherwise stood empty on this public holiday.

Special thanks to our wonderful nursing staff, general surgeons Drs Malherbe, Dedekind, Moydien and Roodt, plastic surgeons Drs Moodley, Potgieter and Darko and anaesthetists Drs Hoffmeyer, Daniels and Kahn.
