Pink Supporting Navy Blue – Our First Colo_rectal Catch-up List

When approached by the Groote Schuur Colorectal surgery team facing the same predicament of unacceptably long waiting times for surgery for their colorectal cancer patients, the Project Flamingo team jumped into action – naturally!

We are so proud of the first colorectal “catch-up” list sponsored by Project Flamingo. Although our focus is primarily on breast cancer patients, we firmly believe in the best care for all patients – including timeous surgery. Like breast cancer, colorectal cancer is “shy” … we don’t like to talk about it and it affects patients not only physically but deeply psychologically, often threatening their dignity.

We hope that this simple act of the pink ribbon reaching out to the navy blue ribbon will open the conversation about access to care for all cancer patients. And off course our patients on the catch-up list got spoiled with a pamper pack – put together with love and care by the Flamingo team.
