Marlene Strauss

Very early on a random Wednesday morning in Barberton, Mpumalanga, I received a telephone call from a certain Dr. Liana Roodt booking a seat at a cooking class I was arranging. That was the start of a friendship that has stood the test of time and many a curve ball thrown by life, including a move to Cape Town.

It is my mother’s journey with breast cancer that inspired me to get involved with Project Flamingo. While initially supporting and championing Project Flamingo from the sidelines, I officially came on board as a director of the NPC in 2017.  I am an Attorney and Conveyancer by day and a Flamingo the rest of the time. This is my way of paying it forward – I deeply believe in the good of people and the capacity each of us has to make the world a little better every day.
