I’ve never been diagnosed with cancer, but I most certainly have been affected by it. In 2006, I was four and my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately I don’t remember her being ill, going for treatment, etc..

My mom joined the amaBella Belles, a dragon boating team for breast cancer survivors. As I grew older, I got to know her team; a bunch of strong women, who, despite their difficulties, had a goal of supporting each other and other cancer patients. I admired them, and got to know many of these amazing people.

My mom joined Project Flamingo shortly after it was started. Then a few years later, I attended a Project Flamingo Committee meeting, and I was stunned by these people who lead their own lives, but get their hands dirty, contributing to this organisation. I loved their enthusiasm. I was eager to get involved and was welcomed openly (I was even added to the WhatsApp chat group). I enjoy do absolutely anything and everything for Project Flamingo, and I believe that, with support, it will go far.
